The Higher Diploma in Illustration aims to equip students with creative and effective illustration skills, areas of studies include visual expression, character design, narrative skills, concept visualisation, media art, illustration appreciation, typography, and illustration skills such as drawing, painting and computer graphics. The programme also provides professional level training in the observation, exploration of communication methodology and visual interpretation.

Articulation to University

Graduates can pursue relevant degrees locally or overseas. They are eligible to apply for admission to top-up degree programme offered by the following university in collaboration with the School for Higher and Professional Education (SHAPE):

Graduates can apply for admission to relevant degree programmes of local universities:

Professional Recognition

Students are eligible to apply for student membership of the Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA).
Students and graduates can become associate member of the Hong Kong Society of Illustrators (HKSI) through its selection process.

Highlighted Modules

Digital Illustration
Covers the use of digital tools to create paintings and artworks

Narrative Illustration
Aims to deliver message, story, meaning through single or sequential illustrations, such as story card, picture book, comic and zine design, etc.

Workshop: Life Drawing
Focuses on figure drawing practice, observational drawing and still-life drawing; enhancing the drawing skills including perspective, proportion, quick sketching, and work with different medias.
